We have a humble and shameless Savior who suffered humiliation to the death on our cross - not for His own gain, but rather for ours. He rose from death and walked out of the grave defeating sin for our sanctification. He has gone to prepare a place for us that we may go to where He is as He promised His disciples. This very Savior once instructed that we are to give to Caesar that which is Caesar's. Those who heard these words were angered because they were longing for confrontation and rebellion. However, His direction was guidance to seek and look forward to a home not of this world. This model, our character is to follow. We live peacefully within this world while not being of it, always looking to that greater place He has promised. We do not love this life unto death.
We now have the semblance of a savior who is rebuilding Caesar's palace. He wants you to follow him. His 'sacrifice' is presented with boast and solely for wealth and strength of country. On the surface, that a choice is to be made may not be obvious, but a choice is being made with each passing day whether wittingly or not.
